Always Humanize, Never Stigmatize

BrainStorms & ThoughtBolts #21: Gay Marriage, Homosexuality & The Church, Music and More!

brainstorm

We lost Whitney at the beginning of the week. Of all the stars who have died this one affected me personally the most. Joe did a *great* job memorializing and honoring her on his blog: As for Houston, I hope and believe she’s absent from the body and present with the Lord. She was raised in church, after all, heiress to a gospel singing legacy and surely familiar with Christ’s promises. I see Him receiving her, judging and rewarding her works, then ushering her in. I also see myself registering, when my gig’s done, for a bass part in the heavenly choir Sister Whitney, eternity’s duly appointed vocal champ, will no doubt be directing … [Read more...]

Third Times a Charm – I Shot Cupid! (All Caught on Video)

Hunta Randa

Here is how the official start to Cupid Hunting Season has unfolded so far (from my Facebook status updates): Cupid hunting begins ... ::: sitting very still in the hunting blind I set up outside the florists ::: red and pink camouflage ::: paintball gun in hand with fluorescent orange paint balls loaded ::: I may not like Stupidious Cupidedum (as defined by Wikipedia) ... But I am not a murderer. ::: quietly awaiting the elusive Stupid Cupid ::: The first attempt! DRAT! I heard a giggle and thought I saw a flash of joy ... nailed the Fedex driver with my paintball gun. #StupidCupid hunting fail #1 //thanks for passing the coffee and … [Read more...]

BrainStorms & ThoughtBolts #20: Migraines Are Evil

Apparently, while in Migraine Mode, I decided the AC console was too bright. Found this hat hanging over it this morning.

Evil, Evil, Evil. I haven't done a normal BrainStorms & ThoughtBolts in a while but fully intended on doing one yesterday. Unfortunately I had a literal BrainStorm with tons of PainBolts in the form of a migraine yesterday. It was the third worst migraine I can remember. The other two landed me in the hospital. It started setting in around 11:30 ish am. The problem with my migraines is I do weird things and for some reason, before it fully set in, I decided to change my blog layout ... and didn't finish it (that's why it looked wonky yesterday). The scary part is that I probably abandoned the site changes when I remembered I also … [Read more...]

Top 10 Posts for January 2012

top ten

I know I posted that Web Stats aren't THAT important the other day. But, I did also say that any blogger, who is serious about blogging, should keep them in mind to see what the trends are regarding what your readers actually read. So with that said, here is the top 10 most read posts for January 2012: 10. Glitter + Bomb = Weird Activist Trend - odd post about an odd subject got a lot of traffic. And oddly enough...no glitter bombers wanted to chime in. 9. Hollywood’s Pedophile Problem Isn’t Limited to Hollywood - This was posted in December but got a surge of traffic in January. 8. At The Exodus International Leadership … [Read more...]

Banner900

Hello blog friends. The conference ends tomorrow and I already have a list of topics I want to blog about so regular blogging will probably resume Thursday. I am not going to blog about the Exodus leadership conference itself but some topics that have been inspired since this post.I am very excited to be attending/helping out with the Exodus International Leadership Conference this week. I was also helping Kathy with one of her speaking engagements over Saturday so that is why there has been really light blogging the past few days. Some of those topics include teachings on grace that rocked my world this past week or so. I told my … [Read more...]

OWR

I am starting a new movement that is so original and inspiring that I think it will stop global warming. I mean, originality and inspiration will stop it ... right? We will just take over Occupy the Weather Report. This is the graphic that should be used for today. My feet are still freezing and I might have to close all my windows but ... I will NOT give up until this forecast bends to my will... our consensus. … [Read more...]

Top Ten Posts for The Year 2011 – A Rundown and Afterthoughts

top ten

Well, 2011 is on the outs and 2012 is on the ... ins ... is that how it goes? Even so, this blog started on March 4th 2011. So I don't have a FULL year of statistics but I think it still counts. Also, interestingly, this is my 300th post! Now that's something to woot about right there that is. Here is a countdown of the top ten posts for the year with brief afterthoughts and/or updates with each post: #10. Why Cultural Christianity Fails To Satisfy This post was written three days ago so for it to shoot up and break the year's top ten must mean it struck a nerve. I don't have many afterthoughts on it because the conversation … [Read more...]

BrainStorms & ThoughtBolts #18: 5 Year Olds, How Fail Well, Christianity Losing America, Updates from Andy and More

brainstorm

BrainStorms & ThoughtBolts #18 Andy Comiskey blogs an update on 2011. It's cool to read about all that has happened with his family this year. I know you have probably never screwed up royally ... but I have ... at least twice in my 43 years. I wish had this article at hand during those times. Now this article, Answering Questions People Actually Ask, has amazing stats and graphics on how our culture thinks about the meaning and purpose of life. It's kind of startling actually. Speaking of startling, read Why Christianity is Losing America. k... enough with the heavy stuff. ::: switching gears ::: And people LOVED … [Read more...]
