Always Humanize, Never Stigmatize

Top 10 Posts for January 2012

top ten

I know I posted that Web Stats aren't THAT important the other day. But, I did also say that any blogger, who is serious about blogging, should keep them in mind to see what the trends are regarding what your readers actually read. So with that said, here is the top 10 most read posts for January 2012: 10. Glitter + Bomb = Weird Activist Trend - odd post about an odd subject got a lot of traffic. And oddly enough...no glitter bombers wanted to chime in. 9. Hollywood’s Pedophile Problem Isn’t Limited to Hollywood - This was posted in December but got a surge of traffic in January. 8. At The Exodus International Leadership … [Read more...]

Web Traffic and Blog Content: A Psychological Juxtaposition?

goth single lades

A Facebook friend writes: Have you ever noticed that the blog posts that you think are most important get the least traffic, and the less informative ones get the most? I wonder if that's a psychological juxtaposition or just God telling me I'm not *that* important. Well, you and God can work that out. We both know you are important to Him. That said, I have come to the conclusion that blog traffic isn't *that* important. I mean blog stats are important and informative. Blog stats aren't trivial and a serious blogger should note what their stats reveal with regard to what is read and shared most often. I have found however that blog … [Read more...]

March For Life Numbers Woefully Misrepresented

Just take a look at this picture. Again, where was all the media coverage of this amazing event? From GetReligion (emphasis and linkage theirs): On Thursday, we looked at the rather shocking slideshow at the Washington CBS affiliate. It was headlined: Activists Hold Annual March For Life On Roe v. Wade Anniversary But it somehow hadn’t shown a single picture of an activist at the March for Life! Instead, it showed multiple pictures of the same handful of pro-choice protesters who protested the massive March for Life. First, we have an update. Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, three days after the March for Life, the folks at … [Read more...]

The March For Life 2012

Today is a big day among those of us who are pro-life. The March for Life occurred today. Millions of people spoke up for the unborn and how often did you see it mentioned in the news? Michelle Malkin has a great rundown of various mentions and statements.  Also, The Foundry (Heritage Foundation) has a heart breaking and provocative post Gendercide: The War Feminists Seeminly Refuse to Fight. Also, The Washington Post reports that large numbers of youth and young adults are joining the pro-life movement. Ever since becoming a Christian I have been solidly pro-life and will do what I can to support local pregnancy centers and the … [Read more...]

Top Ten Posts for The Year 2011 – A Rundown and Afterthoughts

top ten

Well, 2011 is on the outs and 2012 is on the ... ins ... is that how it goes? Even so, this blog started on March 4th 2011. So I don't have a FULL year of statistics but I think it still counts. Also, interestingly, this is my 300th post! Now that's something to woot about right there that is. Here is a countdown of the top ten posts for the year with brief afterthoughts and/or updates with each post: #10. Why Cultural Christianity Fails To Satisfy This post was written three days ago so for it to shoot up and break the year's top ten must mean it struck a nerve. I don't have many afterthoughts on it because the conversation … [Read more...]

Testing Livefyre Commenting System

LiveFyre

Regular readers of my blog know that I like to tinker with blog stuff. Regular readers also know that sometimes my tinkering can blow up blog stuff. KAPOW! I can honestly and very happily report that I did not blow anything up! That said, I have been unhappy with the various commenting systems out there. Today I am trying a new one called "LiveFyre." So far it is super easy to install and is apparently *very* integrated with the social web in a simple way. Not only am I looking for a lighter, simpler, more social commenting system for this here blog ... I am hoping it will help my clients too. So please, help me test out the comments … [Read more...]

The Ex-Gay SuperStar Experiment – A Lesson In Blog Titles

superstar_03

Many of you know that I started a blog called Confessions of An Ex-Gay Superstar. It was wildly popular ::: grin :::. But alas, after about six weeks or so,  it is no more. Here's a handy bullet point list: I wanted to see if a blog like that would take off? ... it did. Would it get a lot of traffic?... more than I expected. While the initial traffic died down... it was still getting a good amount per day. Would it be a place for people to receive ministry? Be encouraged? ... I got private messages almost daily from people who loved it. Would people support it? Yes both prayerfully and financially ... but publicly? .... more on … [Read more...]

Effeminate? Maybe. Secure? Always.

Considering that yesterday other blogs, comments (approved and not approved), and private messages that made fun of everything from my mannerisms, to teeth, and even my goatee ... yes, some guy was literally ticked off about my goatee ... I thought I would dust off this old article and update it as a response. --- I really appreciate civil disagreement or even strong but emotionally mature feedback from people who identify as gay.  I am grateful for those genuinely seeking quality conversation instead of a public fight only orchestrated to negatively energize their friends or supporters. I make videos because I want to engage the readers … [Read more...]

Gay Activist Blogs and Their Readers React

Box Turtle Bulletin

Seems some folks aren't very happy about my new blog. And not that you won't figure this out, but clicking through to the blog images above takes you to the actual gay activist blogs. Some of them run offensive ads and posts. Click through at your own risk.  Also, I would not recommend reading the comment sections there unless you want to be offended. Some of the comments coming through on this blog (in the comments sections or through the contact form) are really terrible. You should see the ones I am not allowing through! It's a good thing that I know there is a community, self identified as gay or not, that is much larger and does not … [Read more...]
