Defending S.E. Cupp … And All People “Degraded” by Porn

S. E. (Sarah Elizabeth) Cupp

Yesterday’s news cycle, at least in conservative circles, was all discombobulated by Larry Flynt allowing his evil magazine Hustler to Photoshop conservative commentator S.E. Cuppin a very unflattering and degrading way.No, I will not link to Hustler or even a blurred out picture of the horrible prank. If you did not already hear about or see it … trust me … it happened.

When I first heard of the situation I was upset, like most, that once again another smart, intelligent and conservative woman was treated so poorly. Flynt (via Hustler) attacked her with ultimate disrespect and obvious misogyny.

That said, as the day progressed and I saw blog post after blog post, tweet after tweet… comment after comment … defending S.E. Cupp … something felt “amiss.”

Exodus International Transcends the “War” to Help Church Minister to Those With SSA

Here are my favorite parts of the full press-release. My brief comments after:

Orlando, Fla. – The furor over same-sex marriage and homosexuality has not abated in recent days as commentators continue to speak about President Obama’s remarks, legislation to ban so called gay-to-straight therapy in California, and the fallout from North Carolina’s marriage vote.

Albert Mohler Discusses Gay Marriage & the Christian Church

With Albert Mohler at SBC Convention in 2004

You go Albert Mohler. Mohler on marriage:

“We have been very slippery on all kinds of issues in terms of accountability in marriage and about marriage,” he said. “It’s going to take a comprehensive recovery of the Christian church’s conviction that marriage is a gospel issue, a biblical issue, an ecclesiological issue, a church discipline issue, a human flourishing issue.”

Bloggable Grace: Pure Grace Chapter Two – Legalism & Its Twin Brother Religion

I am blogging through the new book Pure Grace by my Pastor, Clark Whitten. Click here for the full archive of Bloggable Grace to date.

From page 32 and 33:

Legalism and its twin brother religion always appeal to the flesh. May I say both are deadly and always at cross purposes to life, liberty and the pursuit of freedom, joy, godliness, holiness, Christ-likeness, spiritual maturity, and intimacy with God. If you have a desire to experience the abundant life Jesus died to give you and to truly reflect His glory to those around you, you must refuse and resist these two deadly enemies of truth and open your eyes to see the magnificent and completed work of Christ on your behalf. We must see and believe who Christ has made us to be in order to live out the glorious life He not only modeled for us but empowers us to live.

Before I even start let me say that I don’t see every Christian who doesn’t agree with me about Grace as “legalists.” Even so, there are “legalists” out there and that is who I am talking about.
